Dome of Doom is excited to introduce our latest signing, Lord Genmu, for the release of his debut album ‘Sigils’

“Well when I first got the idea to put all of these tracks together as an album my brain immediately thought of the word ‘SIGILS’ for some reason. Most of my ideas just sort of shoot into my brain and I have to deconstruct what my brain is trying to tell me. After a few days of thinking it over I had the idea of creating 7 unique sigils for each one of the songs to give them their own identity. Growing up I was always obsessed with unique symbols and crests so it just made sense to me to go this route. The main key point I would say with this album is that with each of these "sigils" I'm making a statement and creating my own canon with my project. I'm wanting for this to be more than just a collection of songs, I'm trying to create a world here.”

Genmu notes influences across a wide range of media and says the album itself is a “sort of love letter to the media that shaped me up until this point. Throughout the record I included things such as classic trap samples / tropes (s/o lex luger), samples from video games I grew up playing and various other sounds that molded me into the person that I am today. It's truly a culmination of my favorite things. It's ultimately nostalgic electronic music with sounds from my childhood.” Several artists that Genmu notes listening to heavily in his formative years during his introduction to electronic music in the 2015 Soundcloud era include Bleep bloop, G jones, Rustie, and AWE.

Songs for the record were produced beginning in August of 2021 up until the fall of last year. Genmu started making beats for this project shortly after moving to a new studio space in Austin Texas. Genmu employed Ableton live as well as resampled audio recordings from his Moog sub 37. It is also worth noting that each song uses at least one sabroi max for live device.
